Raise your glass. . .

I'm dedicating this post to two of my very old friends Benini and Lorraine.  They currently reside in the hill country on the outskirts of Austin, further than those famous city limits, in the most beautiful hilltop home with a collection of art that is aweing.  They are a beautiful artist couple who inspire all who come in contact and have recently opened their private sculpture ranch for limited public viewings.  But this story doesn't start with a hilltop sunset.  It's starts in a small moutain resort town at the scene of a wreck.

Close to 20 years ago my parents were the witnesses to the bewitching-hour crunching of a poor old lady's car in downtown Hot Springs.  Giving their statements, little did they know their good deed was being watched out the 3rd storey window of a firey Italian's streetside residence.  Through his thick accent they suddenly realized they were being invited up.  For coffee, of course.  His waving sea of gray hair greeted them and as he introduced his wife who mirrored the look with long wavy locks of salt and pepper.  Striking was an understatement.

The collections housed in their 10,000 square foot historic residence included not only art, but a library to impress, home interiors that seemed effortlessly chic, and a fridge full of the most delectable foods. . . a lots of STRONG coffee.  But the one handed down was the passion for Murano.  The looooong staircase leading up to the residence from the streetside gallery had been covered with a huge piece of glass that displayed their Murano ashtray and bowl collection.  The affect of these sparkly orbs and globs of color as you walked under them upon arrival was the most amazing greeting.

Through the years not only has my relationship with these special people grown but with the help of my ever so ardent the collector-mother our collection and passion for these Vintage pieces of design history has grown.  This collection is constantly moving throughout our store as we have decided to share our passion.  The heavy weight of these amazing pieces of art allow them to go anywhere in your home for a burst of sparkle and color.  I use mine for jewelry, matchbook holders, and catch-alls for my husband.  Enjoy!

All Vintage blown glass from the isle of Murano.  Prices from $55.
